Breakfast At the Mount Dora Historic Inn
In Florida, in order to prepare food on site and serve on reusable crockery, you must have a "Restaurant
License". These very are hard to get. We had to spend about $10,000 to get the equipment and facilities necessary
to get the license as well as having to go to a school and pass a test on food handling theory and practices. Places
not having the license, if they serve breakfast, normally refer to "continental" breakfast, which legally
must be prepared off site and be served on disposable tableware as they do not have the sterilizing dishwasher
required to get the license. Since we do have the license, we take full advantage of it and serve gourmet breakfast
served on fine china with antique flatware and glasses. We normally have a fruit course, entree (soufflé,
quiche, or casserole), starch course, fruit clafouti , and fresh, homemade (from scratch) breads. Normal accessories
like Florida orange juice, coffee, tea, ETC are included. The breakfast, of course, is included in the room rate.
We can be flexible to meet special dietary needs.
Only several of the B&B's in the downtown Historic District have the restaurant license. Hard to compare with
a doughnut and a bottle of juice.
